Abstract
This line data layer represents roads for Buffalo County, Wisconsin at year-end 2016. It is a feature class within the geodatabase, Buffalo_Roads_YE2016.gdb.[Road segments representing centerlines of all roadways and private access within Buffalo County. Typically, this information is compiled from orthoimagery or other aerial photography sources. This representation of the road centerlines support address geocoding and mapping. It also serves as a source for public works and other agencies that are responsible for the active management of the road network.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [Roads are classified as federal, state, county, town, city, village, or private/ private named roads. These classifications are used primarily for the display of road network. Address ranges have been developed to aid in the geocoding process for enhanced 911 efforts. However, gaps, overlaps and missing address ranges indicated that this feature should only be used as secondary source of geocoding, behind SiteAddressPoints.]

This data was submitted to the UW geospatial archive in 2017. Content may be considered current as of December 31, 2016. It was published to the UW geospatial archive as part of the Wisconsin Department of Administration Land Information Program annual collection of public data for the year 2017.
