- Statement
- This layer is the result of aggregation procedures implemented over school district boundary data provided by Wisconsin's 72 counties. Each public school district in Wisconsin is located in one of twelve Cooperative Educational Service Agencies. CESA attribute information was first included in the Unified School Districts, Wisconsin 2018 and Secondary School District, Wisconsin 2018 layers. The two layers were merged into a single layer and then dissolved based on CESA number resulting in this final layer. Official school district boundary changes that occur across CESA boundaries are updated annually around July 1. The two school district boundary layers that are the basis for this layer are the result of aggregation procedures implemented over school district boundary data provided by Wisconsin's 72 counties. The original statewide layers for unified and secondary school districts were developed using county school district boundary data submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) in 2017. In some places, these boundaries reflected school district information from tax parcels, in other places they did not. In 2020, the entire statewide layer was modified to wholly reflect the most recently released tax parcel data which is maintained at the county level. Note: Version 2.0 and all versions from 2017 contain an error where the Mount Horeb Area School District was attributed to CESA 3 instead of 2. This error was corrected in version 2.1 and is correct in all layers since.
